The Money Attracting Challenge: Day 8

by Anne Bellamy, Author of Using The Law Of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

On Day 8 of this challenge, one thing that I've noticed is that I am paying attention. I'm sure it's the fact that Chauncey wants us to journal our experiment on a daily basis.  Journalling, or blogging in my case, forces me to sit down everyday and review the day's events.  Doing this is made much easier when I pay attention throughout the day, to thoughts and events that are happening.

Like the lady who cheered me on during my run the other day.
Like the guy who stood in front of me on the walking tour, until I practiced pivoting.
Like the affirmations that I say to myself on a daily basis.....because of this challenge!

The fact that I'm noticing changes happening has tremendous value to me.  By noticing them, I can now appreciate them, and say "Thank you Universe, I appreciate that!"   Appreciation is so important when trying to manifest anything good in your life.  The more you show appreciation for a thing, the more the Universe will send it your way.

Now, I'm gonna go to my Appreciation Notebook, which I have created specifically for this challenge, and list the things in my life that I appreciate :-)

The Money Attracting Challenge: Day 7

by Anne Bellamy, Author of Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

Well, it's been a week since I took up Chauncey Scott's challenge to attract money and I've started to develop a few good habits.  Once again, I went on my 40 minute run, and well, you know what I do, so I won't repeat it.

I will say that one of my affirmations was "I love feeling respected".  Well, just before the run was over, I passed by a woman working in a corner shop, arranging  the fruit and veggie stall outside.  As I ran past, she called out "Good for you!  I wish I was that motivated!"  Hey! A complete stranger giving me props.  Cool.  Thanks Universe!

I've also mentioned that I started rereading Esther and Jerry Hicks' Money and The Law of Attraction and have been trying to put their practice of pivoting into action.

Here's how that's been working out:  Yesterday we went on an historical walking tour of our neightbourhood.  It was a rainy day, but we decided to go ahead with it anyway.  At the beginning, we were all gathered around the tour guide as he gave his introduction.  Then, a man who was standing beside me seemed to look at me, then stand right in front of me, completely blocking me!  The Nerve!  He looked right at me, and decided to stand in front of me (I'm short....5'4").  How dare he!  What has he got against me?

Fortunately, it hit me: Start pivoting!  He's got absolutely nothing against me.  I don't know this person.  He doesn't know me.  Maybe he saw me, maybe he didn't. It's a walking tour, and this is just the beginning, so I'll have plenty of time to move around.  Focus on the tour guide and what he's saying.  So far, he's been interesting.

In no time at all, we started walking, moving around in different groups and configurations.  The tour guide seemed to be in  my view the whole time.  Even the rain decided to stop.  Eventually, near the end, the guide made a joke that not many people heard.  In fact, only two people seemed to hear it.  As I was laughing at the joke, I noticed someone else laughing too.  I looked to the person standing beside me. Yep, that man who blocked me in the beginning.  We looked at each other, smiled and laughed.  This pivoting stuff rocks!

The Money Attracting Challenge: Day 6

by Anne Bellamy, author Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

Yesterday, some friends of ours asked us if we could look after their dog for a week while they were in Italy.  This is a dog that we've looked after before, but only for a weekend, never for a whole week.  Having said that, she is pretty well behaved and they are good friends of ours, so we said yes.

Now, I'm not exactly a dog-person.  Haven't been since a black labrador chased me from a nearby field to our back door when I was eight years old.  So, dog-sitting isn't my favourite pasttime.  Add to that the fact that I work predominantly from home while my boyfriend goes to an office every day, guess who will be spending the most time with this dog?  To top it all off, my boyfriend realized (after we agreed to dogsit) that he was going away that weekend with a friend to watch cricket.

I was not happy!  Not only would I have the dog predominantly to myself during the week, but now my boyfriend tells me I'll have her the whole weekend, by myself?!?!  (In his defence, he is trying to get out of going to the cricket.) In my unhappy mood, I stormed upstairs, sat on my bed, crosssed my arms, hmmphhhed, and then saw Money and The Law of Attraction on my bedside table.  What was I just talking about yesterday?  Pivoting.  So, I decided to use it.  Okay, so looking after this dog by myself is what I don't want, so what is it that I do want?

I want to share the responsibility of dog-sitting with my boyfriend.  I want him to sell his cricket ticket.  I want a nice bottle of Italian red wine when our friends get back.  It worked.  My mood picked up immediately.  I don't know what's going to happen, but I do know that it will be just fine.

Oh, and did I mention that they offered to pay me £20.00 for looking after the dog?  Their original offer was £70 (what the kennel was charging) but that seemed too much, so we settled on £20.00 (plus the bottle of red).  Now there's £20.00 I wasn't expecting!  Hey, this challenge is working!

The Money Attracting Challenge: Day 5

by Anne Bellamy, author of Using The Law of Attraction to Help The Universe Help You

On the morning of Day 5 I woke up to the news that the employees of SportsDirect will receive a bonus of £43,000 each!  "Wow!" I thought.  "That's awesome!"  It was so nice to wake up to some positive news.  I felt glad for them.  So, what's the big deal about my reaction.  Here's what was missing: jealousy, envy, anger, resentment.  I don't feel any of those things for these people  I'm so happy for them!  What a great time to receive £43,000!!!!

Afterwards, I went for my 40 minute run and followed the same pattern I described on Day 1.  Repeatedly affirming to the Universe that I loved abundance, wealth, prosperity, happiness, joy, fun, etc.  Again, that smile was on my face the whole time.

Once I got home, I decided to dig out a book I hadn't read in a while: Esther and Jerry Hicks' Money and The Law of Attraction.  Although I've read it before, it's always worth re-reading.  I've just begun, and already I'm reminded of a very valuable exercise.

That of pivoting.  When you experience a negative emotion, say to yourself "Okay, I know what I don't want, so what is it that I do want?"  This exercise forces you to take your attention from the negative, and more importantly focus it on the positive.  It is my intention to continue this practice.  To be more mindful of my emotions. To focus more clearly and more often on that which I do want! I'm really looking forward to this!  Excitement is building!

The Money Attracting Challenge: Day 4

by Anne Bellamy, author of Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

On Day 4 of The Money Attracting Challenge I did something I don't often do.  I cleaned my house.  Let me make a confession: I'm a bit of a slob, and my boyfriend is too.  As a result, our house is often cluttered and disorganized.  Don't worry, we do clean, just not all at once.

The reason I decided to clean my house is this:  I thought if I could wash away dust, dirt, grease etc from my house, I could use that as a metaphor.  So here's what I did.
As I was scrubbing, sweeping, dusting and wiping I thought to myself: "I am cleaning away any negative thoughts I have about money, and replacing them with fresh, new clean, positive thoughts."

The more I thought this, the happier I started to feel.  The happier I started to feel, the cleaner my house got.  By the end of it, instead of feeling worn out, I felt invigorated.  I felt happy!  And you know what else?  I felt appreciation for my house.  I looked in every room I cleaned and appreciated it.  Boy, did it feel good!

What does this have to do with attracting money?  Everything!  The more you appreciate what you have, the more the Universe will deliver to you.  I've already put in an order for £1000 by August 31st, so I'm expecting a delivery.

After my cleaning, I decided to pursue this feeling of appreciation.  So, I wrote a list of 10 things in my life that I appreciate.  Tomorrow I'll write ten more.  Every day I will add to this list, and review the previous days, as well.  I intend to be overflowing with appreciation!  The Universe has no choice but to deliver my request.

The door's open, come on in. My house is nice and clean :-)

p.s. After finishing this post, I got up to get a glass of water, put my hand in my pocket and found a penny.  I appreciate it.

The Money Attracting Challenge: Day 3

by Anne Bellamy, Author of Using The Law of Attraction to Help The Universe Help You

Day 3 of The Money Attracting Challenge started off for me with a session of TaeBo.  I really do love this workout because when it's over I feel strong and powerful.  Puts me in a great mood.  Plus, at the end of the DVD Billy Blanks has a great message about positivity and how words have power.  Use your words wisely, and say positive things, is his message.  He also speaks about being grateful and feeling blessed.  This guys knows a thing or two about The Law of Attraction!

I listened to his message and took his words to heart.  Now more than ever, I find myself cutting short those negative thoughts that pop into my head and turning them around.  That inner critic is getting smaller and smaller by the minute.  I can feel her disappearing.  It feels great!

In addition to the workout, I also did my daily meditation for 20 minutes.  Some days are better than others, but when I have a day that proves difficult for me to simply follow my breath, I just shrug my shoulders and say "That's okay, no worries" and then I let it go.  I don't scold myself for having an unproductive meditation session.  I just trust that the day will still unfold fine, and you know what?  It did, and it does.

I think this challenge is going to be very good for me.  Setting goals and announcing them publicly have made me much more accountable for my thoughts and actions.  Thank you Chauncey for laying down the gauntlet!

See you tomorrow :-)

The Money Attracting Challenge: Day 2

by Anne Bellamy, author of Using The Law of Attraction To Help The Universe Help You

Day 2 of The Money Attracting Challenge.  I found myself in a swirl of thoughts, trying to come up with ideas on what I can do each and every day during this challenge.  Some good ideas popped up, then went away.  Some stayed, but when I tried implementing them, they felt forced.  So I stepped back.  And relaxed.

I started to meditate.  I've been a big fan of meditation for awhile now.  I don't really even care if it helps bring all my dreams and wishes to my doorstep: I like it because it feels good.  I like the peace.  I like the silence.  I like the solitude.  I like the relief.

On Day 2 I also made a decision:  Whenever I felt myself criticize something or someone, have a negative thought, be a glass is half-empty person I would stop myself and say "I am blessed. And the reasons I am blessed are:"

1. My health.  I've always been well.  Everything works the way it should, and boy am I glad about that!

2. My home. I have one.  It's a house that I've come to love, that I call home, that gives me warmth and shelter.  That I look forward to coming back to at the end of the day.

3. My personal relationships: Fantastic boyfriend: check. Wonderful family: check. Hilarious friends: check.

I made a longer list, but you get the idea.  Just typing it out again has made me smile....so you could say this journal is one of the steps I'm taking to attract money.  Let's say yes.

I also listened to a favourite hypnosis recording on Youtube: Ask Your Money Angel
It always puts a huge smile on my face, leaving me feeling abundant, magnetic and powerful.

As for my swirl of thoughts, maybe tomorrow one of my ideas will not feel forced, but rather inspired.  That's when you know it's a keeper.

p.s. Cleaning up after dinner, I opened the fridge to put the leftovers away.  I had a hard time finding any space for them and thought to myself  "Arrgghhh!!!  There's too much food in this fridge!" I checked myself right away.  Seriously, I was complaining that I HAD TOO MUCH FOOD! So I switched my thoughts immediately to "Thank you God, Universe for providing all this food for me. I am truly abundant" I felt much better, and you know what?  I found some space for the leftovers.
