Making Positive Affirmations Work For You

by Anne Bellamy, Author of Using the Law of Attraction to Help The Universe Help You

Anyone who is interested in the Law of Attraction, personal growth and self-improvement will have heard of  and tried to use positive affirmations to turn their dreams into realities. Many of these affirmations look something like this:

I am happy
I am rich
I am beautiful

.....to name just a few.  While I have no problem with using these affirmations, and have in fact, extolled their virtue, many people have a hard time with the structure of the above affirmations.  It's the "I am" part that they struggle with.  Sometimes when you say "I am rich" that little voice inside your head says "No I'm not" making it difficult for the affirmation to do its good work.

If this sounds familiar to you, then I have a suggestion which will ease your way into the "I am" - ness of affirmations.  Instead of saying "I am"  say to yourself  "I feel".

I feel happy
I feel rich
I feel beautiful

or maybe "Today I choose to feel happy.  Today I choose to feel rich.  Today I choose to feel beautiful."

There's a big difference between those two thoughts, at least that little voice in your head will think so.  "I am" seems like a lie...."Where's the proof that you're rich?  You haven't got it! Ha! It must be a lie."  Whereas "I feel" doesn't need proof.  You can feel whatever you like, whenever you like, however you like.  And when you feel a certain way, the Law of Attraction kicks in, the universe responds, and how you feel will soon be your reality.  Then you'll have your proof and can start saying "I am" again.

Try it for a while and see how it feels!
